Fall into Art Begins August 29
Join us for the first program in The Brinton Museum’s Fall into Art series: The Art of Testimony: Standing Bear’s Little Bighorn Muslins.
On Saturday, August 29, art historian Ramey Mize, PhD, Susan G. Detweiler Associate Curator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, will explore the work of Mnikhówožu Lakȟóta leader Matȟó Nážiŋ (Stephen Standing Bear) and the muslin drawings he created from his memories of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
Presented in conjunction with The Unfinished War: The Battle of the Little Bighorn in Native American Art, this program offers a special opportunity to take a deeper look at Standing Bear’s visual testimony and The Brinton Museum’s own monumental muslin featured in the exhibition.
