The Wyoming Historical Society began in 1953, and is made up of members across Wyoming, as well as from outside the borders of Wyoming and the United States. The Society is open to any individual interested in history of Wyoming and the West.

2023 Wyoming History Winners

The University of Wyoming, American Heritage Center in partnership with the Wyoming Historical Society announced the 2023 Wyoming History Day winners. Students in Wyoming History Day participated in year-long research projects based on the National History Day theme — Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas.

2023 Lola Homsher Grant Recipients

Recipients of 2023 Lola Homsher Grants have been announced by the Wyoming Historical Society’s Homsher Committee. The committee recognizes amateur and professional historians through these grants that support the Society’s mission to make Wyoming’s past accessible to present and future generations. The 2024 grant deadline is February 28, 2024.

2023 Annual Trek Registration

The 69th Annual Trek  will be held June 15-17 and hosted by the Star Valley Historical Society. Join us for the Society's 69th Annual Trek in Star Valley located on the western side of the state between the Salt River Range and the Webster Range in Idaho. Star Valley was settled in the late 1870s by Mormon pioneers. The fun-filled weekend will find us exploring the area's most intriguing historic sites. 2022 Wyoming Historical Society Awards

The Wyoming Historical Society recently held its 69th annual meeting in Wheatland, hosted by the Platte County Historical Society. One of the highlights of the meeting is recognizing individuals and organizations who have developed a program, a book or a project that demonstrates significant contributions in preserving the state’s history.
