The Museum focuses on the daily lives of homesteaders in the area, sheep and cattle ranches, and the growth of the energy industry. HOURS: May 20 to October 15; Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm ADMISSION: Free EXHIBITS: Permanent exhibits include a homestead display, antique dishes, early day implements, World War I artifacts, mining tools, wood working artifacts, present-day oil drilling and coal mining. SPECIAL EXHIBITS/EVENTS/PROGRAMS: The Museum has a collection of windmills, which played an important role in the area. The Museum also displays heavy mining equipment used in the region. RESEARCH FACILITIES: The Museum retains historic Wright, Gillette, and Newcastle newspapers on microfilm. The records of Wright's founding and incorporation, periodicals, old diaries, and county historical books are also on file. Videos on coal mines also are available. There are no fees for use.
