This calendar published by the American Heritage Center, University of Wyoming, in cooperation with the Wyoming State Historical Society. Commentary by Phil Roberts and edited by Rick Ewig. ![]() The theme for the 1999 Wyoming Historical Calendar is "celebrations" in Wyoming communities. The twelve photos of different celebrations in Wyoming show "festive activities with people happily posing for the camera." Many of the photos show the stark realities of living on the Wyoming frontier, but the people in the photos portray a sense of optimism and a reason to celebrate. ![]() The May photograph celebrates four Civil War veterans, and the November scene shows the Cambria school on Antelope Hill above the mining community in Weston County. The June photo shows a Sunday school celebrating "Children's Day" in Douglas. The daily footnotes for 1999 often detail milestones and anniversary dates of Wyoming history. We are reminded of the celebrations and optimism of the past, as we view the photos and read the daily entries. about previous Wyoming Historical Calendars:
