1992 Wyoming Historical Calendar

This calendar is published by the Wyoming State Museum, Parks and Cultural Resources Division, Wyoming Department of Commerce, Cheyenne, WY 82002.

1992 Wyoming Historical Calendar

"The Calendar of Wyoming History-1992 examined Wyoming through the images found on post cards." The post cards used in this calendar were taken from the collections of James L. Ehernberger and the Wyoming State Museum.

The 1992 calendar story details the history of post cards and how they evolved from their birth in the 1840's. They represent an important historical document displaying Wyoming's past. Collectors and traders made it possible that many of the scenes of life in Wyoming were preserved. Not until about 1907 did color postcards begin. Prior to that, only black and white cards were found. Intending to help people understand Wyoming's past, more than forty post cards grace the 1992 Calendar of Wyoming History.

"Wyoming certainly is not lacking natural wonders and activities for tourists to see and do. The state is a hunter's paradise, photographer's dream, and a year-round vacation area. During 1990 approximately eleven million people either stayed in or traveled through Wyoming, with an economic impact of more than one billion dollars."

"Wyomings manufacturing base has always been small. At the end of World War II, Wyoming had the smallest "war" manufacturing-industries payroll in the country. In 1964, the state had the lowest number of people employed in manufacturing in the U.S."
